Nicki Minaj’s The Fader Magazine Interview And Photos x More News

We recently posted Nicki Minaj on the front cover of The Fader magazine (you can see that here), and we now have the article and some more photos from the photo shoot courtesy of BlogXilla. The magazine should hit newsstands sometime next week, and in the interview below, Nicki speaks about her first rhymes, her status in Rap, and why she’s always making those goofy faces. You can also view some outtakes from the photo shoot here!

Nicki Minaj on Her Status In The Game and Being A Personality: “I don’t know where I fit in the spercturum of rap yet, I think now I’m kind of proving myself, but before, people thought of I was more of a sex symbol or wannabe sex symbol. Now they’re seeing. That’s why I make the goofiest faces, I don’t want people to think I’m up here trying to be cute. I’m trying to entertain, and entertaining is more than exuding sex appeal. I don’t think that’s fun. I don’t find it fun watching someone trying to be sexy. It’s wack. I’m trying to just show my true personality, and I think that means more than anything else. I think when personality is at the forefront, its not about male or female, its just about, who is this weird character?”

Nicki Minaj on Control and Writing Her Own Rhymes: “I am so territorial, that [from the start] I just felt like whatever I was gonna do I was gonna write it myself, its my personal preference to always be in control of everything I do in life.”

Nicki Minaj on Writing ‘Saxon’ For Rihanna: “This wasn’t supposed to come out in the world with Nicki Minaj on it. This was written for someone else, and I felt so f*cked up behind it. But I thought the beat was very different, and I wanted to write something for Rihanna that showed like, I already shut that shit down.

Sometimes one isn’t enough, after two you need just a little bit more but three always seems to be that magic number. For Young Money Entertainment’s rising new female rapper, Nicki Minaj things are always best in threes. Finally after finishing her successful stint on the Young Money Tour and in between working on her upcoming debut album, Nicki played a little game with TeenMusic.com called, Minaj A Trois. Nicki gave us her top 3 on a range of topics that revealed her love of chocolate men, getting dumped for crying, why people who blast air conditioners should be jailed and more crazy, fun randomness!

My Celebrity Crushes: I always thought Morris Chestnut was a big hunk of chocolate. I also say Blair Underwood and Boris Kodjoe. I like them big and tall.

My Ultimate Guilty Pleasures: I love butter pecan ice cream. I like to eat lemons with salt. I always have a hoarse voice and people told me to eat lemon with honey. I loved the way lemons taste and I started putting salt on it. I’m weird. When I was a little kid I put tomatoes in a bowl and put hot sauce and salt in it. I had to hide it from my mother ‘cause she thought I’d get sick. So tomatoes were my crazy guilty pleasure when I was little. A freezing cold pickle. I like it in the middle of the night. It is so freaking good!
