During a recent listening party at the Pheed House in Los Angeles, Billboard caught up with Young Money’s new signee Chanel West Coast for an interview.
Chanel spoke about her upcoming mixtape called Now You Know that is set to drop on July 2nd, how Lil Wayne is as a boss, the forthcoming America’s Most Wanted music festival which she will be performing on, and more.

“I went very different on every song. There are songs that are more dance, songs that are more trap beats, and some songs that are more dubstep. It’s a really a good blend of music. I don’t think people are expecting so it’s going to be pretty dope. I rap more but I also sing. I sing a lot of my hooks and I actually have two songs where I’m singing the whole entire time.”
“I have so much music that I’ve made in the past two years. We already have so much music done and ready to go. I always say that I want to be like 2Pac. If I were to die tomorrow, I want to know that I have enough music to put out for my fans for years to come.”
“Lil Wayne gives you the freedom to do what you want and be creative and then he gives his official approval later on. I went to Miami, played him my music, and I just remember him after my one song… I played him a track and he sat back and said, ‘Man that shit was stupid.’ I was like, ‘Yo. Wayne thought that shit was stupid.’ As soon as he said that, I knew I was in.”
“Wayne brings out the Young Money artists when he performs. It’s cool that he’s so invested in us.”

June 26, 2013
I Really don’t intend to diss YM or Lil Wayne, I really don’t, but a lot of new people in young money I brilliant but they aint doing nothing but mixtapes, which don’t take them no further than they was before, and it has well too many artists in young money, don’t get me wrong I fuckin love YM but… you know
June 26, 2013
Its totally settled Wayne,Drake,Tyga and Nicki are YM
June 26, 2013
Alex, i get you, about the whole young money army, but i think Wayne picks a certain time to blow certain artists up at a time he thinks this artist will take to the market, like he did with T-raw and Nicki.
Although personally im not keen on Gudda’s mixtapes, his features are pretty dope!
