You’ve been in the entertainment industry for more than 15 years, doing everything from acting, producing and, of course, singing. If you had to wear only one hat, which of the three would you wear? Which one is your true love?
CM: Oh man…If I had to wear one hat…I mean, it’s such a difficult choice to make, because I love them all equally. I will say the one thing I will never shy away from is, you know, I love music. It makes people feel good and I love making music and writing music, so it’s a continuous thing I think I’d always be on the pursuit of, to some capacity. Even if it was musical theatre, I’d still be singing on a stage. I love music, and it makes me feel good, so in this case, I’d have to say music, but there’s never a choice when it comes to me with all those, I love them all.

Since you were “dipping it low and bringing it up slow,” 12 years ago, you’ve become a beautiful, working mother! How has being a mother influenced your artistry and your business decisions?
I’ve definitely come to find out that I’m quite the multi-tasker! You know, it’s also a job to raise your children, and a job that’s forever, so it takes quite a bit of energy, and focus, and a lot of love and passion goes into it. I kind of mirror that with my career because I love my career and ever since I’ve been a kid, I’ve dreamt of doing this. Being a mom and being an artist kind of influence me to show my daughter what a hard-working mom she has, and to pursue her dreams. For me, since having my daughter, I kind of created this whole way that works for me (especially when I was pregnant)…everything is noted, everything is in calendars, and my memory, when it comes to multiple emails and phone calls, I handle things on the spot. I’m not afraid to stand up and speak for myself because it’s not only my career on the line but it’s the future of my daughter.

If you could speak to your younger self, when you first had, Violet…what would you say?
When I first had Violet, I would just say fear less! I used to have a lot of fears, especially when it came to speaking up for what I wanted, or just pursuing being an entrepreneur, because I felt like I had to go with the rules/guidelines of what the industry was supposed to be and it was a lot of asking permission…but then when you realize it’s your money and you’re your own boss, at the end of the day, making decisions for yourself and doing things that aren’t necessarily what everyone tells you to do, is okay. Go out and break some rules!

You’ve dated some highly prominent men in the business, how do you feel about love and its ups and downs?
I love love, I love everything that it has to offer. The highs and the lows because it makes you a stronger person, it makes you a better person, and it makes you more understanding of people. I obviously have a certain taste, which is usually people that are just as driven as I am and have busy work schedules, and are understanding of what I do. While none of them have worked out in the long run, I really feel like they truly were meant for that moment.

Do you find that having a relationship in the spotlight can be the cause of said relationship to end?
Yes, and no…I don’t think so because these days, everyone’s a star! You go on social media and there are a lot of people that are their own stars in their own right. I would say more so, it’s the social media [that effects it] because people are jaded by what they see and they always want more than what they thought. They lose focus and there’s a lot that’s out there, so I wouldn’t blame it only on the spotlight.

What advice would you give to your fans that have experienced heartbreak?
My advice is that you will get over it and everything will heal! It can be hard, and I’ve been through some hard times when it comes to relationships in my life, but I always looked at the future, and I always said “okay, this is momentary.” Focus on yourself and love yourself and the best person for you will come along!

On a lighter note, recently, you were in Toronto, working on Fox TV’s movie remake of the 1975 cult classic, “Rocky Horror Picture Show.” OMG! Can you tell us about your role, how it came about, and what we can expect from the film as a whole?
I play Magenta, and she is this crazy, fiery, counterpart to Dr. Frakenfurter. Working on this project, when I went into it, I didn’t know what I was going to do because I was a fan of the original, and I know it’s such a classic film, and people love it and you really don’t want to do it wrong. I went in with an open mind but also with respect to the original. We did our four weeks of rehearsals, and an extra two weeks of recording, and I found my character in the midst of all that, and also getting to know my cast, on and off of the set. There’s a lot of heart that went into it and it was one of the best times of my life.

On your reality show, “Christina Milian Turned Up,” you really open your life to the public, in a way that fans might not have expected. What made you decide that reality TV was something that would be beneficial to you and your family?
I went in with a positive and level-headed mind, and I always knew my real fans wanted to know more…people want to know more. This gave me the opportunity to show them my highs and lows. There’s only so much you can say in an interview or put on a song that may or may not come out. I just wanted to show people that I’m real, I’m vulnerable, I care about my family, and I wanted to show people what true love is, and pass on the idea of what the core of family is and show that I never give up. There’s a lot of thought that goes in to my every day and I wanted people to know that. I also felt it was a good opportunity for not only my brand, but also for my family, to step into the spotlight and create things for their careers and their futures.

Do you have any regrets?
None at all!

You must have thousands of crazy fan stories! What is your most memorable fan moment to date? Funny, scary, whatever!
You meet people, and I’ve had this experience, where you meet somebody and you think you’re going to cry but you just get emotional. I think the most memorable is probably one of my biggest fans, she goes by “CMilianMVP” online, and she shows up to a lot of my events, when I’m on the East Coast, and we have history from over 15 years of meeting each other, when she first became one of my fans. She’s tattooed my face on her calf and my autograph on her arm…it’s cool! I feel like I’m growing up with her and growing up with my fans!

What can Christina Milian fans look out for in the near future?
They can expect to see me, of course, in “Rocky Horror,” and then I’m working on a new musical project right now, my EP, “For You,” and I’m going to tour with that overseas. I’m also shooting a TV show on Fox, called “Super Human,” which will probably be airing in the fall. It also stars Mike Tyson, Kal Penn, and Dr. Jandial and it’s showcasing people with amazing skills, memory, and accessing their brain-a lot of people rely on so many things these days that our memory is kind of lost…at least with me! Especially with all the things I’m doing, it’s almost like I have to focus on a few things, otherwise I’d go crazy with all the information in my head. While I’ve been on this show, I’ve learned really cool ways to re-program and re-train your brain. For example, when we’re dealing with memory loss or want to focus on a skill or something special about us, this show is going to give people hope in seeing that and gives people an opportunity to go home, each episode, with $50,000. It’s great because I’m seeing people from all walks of life come on this show and they’re all so amazing and they have these amazing skills that I definitely don’t have. It’s just beautiful to see their faces and give them the opportunity to be on television and for the world to see them. You never know what’s going to happen!

When you’re not working, what is a normal day like for you?
When I’m definitely not working, it can be a combination of things, from my daughter, my family, and my friends. I usually fit all of the above in one day. Now that it’s summer break, Violet has more time off but usually when she is in school, I’ll go to a pool at a hotel with my friends, or just go have lunch and cocktails with them. I’ll probably work out in the morning and somewhere in there, I go visit my mom and my sisters and then I start dinner and then by nighttime, I’m with my friends again-maybe having dinner with them or going out to have a drink, relax, have fun, and talk about guys!

Do you find it difficult to have time to take care of yourself and your body, with everything that you have going on? How does your body adjust to your “on the go” lifestyle?
I really try to pay attention to the hours that I travel and things like that but my body does pretty good! I push it sometimes, but I feel like my mental capacity for keeping it positive just makes it continue…I’m like a robot! When I do feel like it’s robotic, those are the moments where I’m not getting enough sleep and my body lets me know. Soon enough, this summer, I’m hoping I can get a vacation, or make a vacation out of something! Even when it comes to fitness, it’s hard to fit that in…so if I can work out a few times a week, I’ll feel good! It’s better than nothing!

What’s the last song you listened to?
Do it, with me and Lil Wayne. (from my new EP)

If you could put together a world tour of female vocalists, who would make the cut?
Wow, this is like a dream. Definitely Beyonce and Rihanna. That would be awesome! I would totally go watch that and then we could mix in a little Mariah Carey. Unfortunately, you know, that would never happen! It would never happen…this is seriously hypothetical.

If you were stranded on a desert island, and could only take 5 things with you, what would you need?
If we’re talking about things and materials, then it would be my Ipad, electricity, Wifi…I would bring sun block, and a camera.

No food?
Oh, I would definitely need food. But I’m really good at fishing, so I would just do that.
