Vice Versa Speak On Signing To Young Money, Their Upcoming Debut Project 55 & More

Newtral Groundz recently chopped it up with the newest group signed to Young Money Entertainment, Vice Versa, which you can read below.

If you didn’t already know, the duo consisting of Poppy Holden and Yaj were on the “Kloser 2 U Tour” with Lil Wayne earlier this year. They were also featured on Lil Twist’s Young Carter mixtape back in April.

In their interview, VV discussed how long they have been making music, their influences, how the two of them met and formed their group, their upcoming debut project called 55 aka V|V, what it’s like being signed to Young Money, and where they see YM in 5 years time!

Newtral Groundz: So for the readers who haven’t heard of you yet, how long have you been making music?
Poppy: Technically nine years, but not seriously until about three years ago. We never released anything because we wanted to perfect our sound.

Newtral Groundz: Who were some of your major influences growing up?
Poppy: Eminem, Lil Wayne of course, Lil Bow Wow jus because dude was so young and stayed fresh!

Yaj: Jay-Z ,Kanye West, Outkast, and Wayne.

Newtral Groundz: So we see your a part of a duo called Vice Versa. How did that partnership happen?
Poppy: We met in school at like 7 years old. We’ve been real good potnas for a long time. Yaj’s older brother had a studio and we’d jus play around with it and try to make songs, but the shit wasn’t trash to say that we were kids, so eventually it became serious.

Newtral Groundz: We see you guys have been promoting a project called 55. Tell us more about it.
Poppy: This our very first project. 55 is another way of saying V|V. We’ve been working very hard with various artists and producers to make this a memorable project.

Newtral Groundz: How does it feel to be a part of a label with so much music history behind it?
Yaj: It’s scary because it’s a lot live up to. It’s amazing to be mentored by legends. When you know you are made for something, you have to step up to the plate.

Newtral Groundz: Where do you see Young Money in five years?
Poppy: Reborn!!!

No they most certainly won’t. The only artists that have released any official album and blew up was (of course) Drake and Nicki and I am beyond sick and tired of only hearing them on the radio and watching the other artists suffer because of a label that is in limbo. Beyond fed up Birdman needs to pay the fuck up already and then we’ll see if it was really just him holding them back

Tyga, Jae Millz, and PJ Morton dont count as they are no longer on the label and Christina Milian hasn’t released an album in like at least 11 years. Tyga blew up but didnt have the same amount of love from the labels and once again were just left With Drake and Nicki
