Drake Fires Back At Kia Shine: “The Claims Of 25% Ownership Are False”

Drake Fires Back At Kia Shine

Drake has responded to Kia Shine’s alleged “25 percent ownership” accusations regarding his hit “Best I Ever Had” record and said the claims made on the Southern artist’s behalf are completely fabricated.

Responding to the reports on his daily blog, Drizzy said he has never met Shine and does not share a quarter of his publishing with the producer.

“There have been questions posed to me the last few days about the writing of ‘Best I Ever Had’ and I figured I’d take the time to clear the air directly,” he wrote Thursday (September 17) night. “I have never met Kia Shine or worked with him. I wrote the entire composition in Toronto and I borrowed one line from a Lil Wayne song that he produced the BEAT for. The claims of 25% ownership are false and for a artist to brag about splits on a song is distasteful to begin with.”

Writing via Twitter, Shine initially posted images of himself being awarded with Billboard plaques in recognition of the song.

“maan i am not a hater, if someone is blessed with something i commed them and encourage, not discourage,” he wrote earlier this week. “for all the nob believers here is the pic taken from Sept.10th’s Bm1 awards in NY where I won 3 awards for my publishing share of ‘BEST I EVER HAD’…this message is for all the non-believers YES kia shine OWNS 25% OF THE DRAKE SONG ‘THE BEST I EVER HAD’ 3 BMI AWARDS FOR THE SONG GOING #1 ON 3 BILLBOARD CHARTS. GO BUY HIS EP TODAY! MY FAMILY APPRECIATES IT! … its all there! can’t make sh*t like this up

Diddy & Drake Make Sweet Music

Diddy & Drake Make Sweet Music
The producer took the Degrassi grad under his wings for a recording session

And that’s a rap! As far as initiations go, hanging out with Diddy in Toronto the other night must have been right up there for Drake, Canada’s (and hip hop’s) Next Big Thing. There they were at Sotto Sotto. There, again, at Century Room. There, too, in the recording studio above Tattoo Rock Parlour, on Queen, where the Gatsbyish Diddy was said to be recording with the Toronto singer, and where the impressario was seen coming down the common stair well, posing like a pro for pics and jetting off just as fast in his SUV chariot.

In Toronto for a jam-packed sked, Diddy made like the Julius Caesar to Drake’s Mark An tony. (Or maybe more like the Maya Angelou to his Oprah Winfrey?) And while we’re on the subject, it behooves me to mention that Mr. Next Big Thing, a former Degrassi kid, certainly has no shortage of mentors. In the last four months alone — since Drake’s song The Best I Ever Had morphed into the song of the summer — not only has he been courted by Jay-Z, recruited by Lil Wayne and praise-the-lorded by Jamie Foxx but he’s notched up an incredible number of music collaborations with everyone from Mary J. Blige to Justin Timberlake to Rihanna.

Makes you kinda wonder: Is there ever a case of too many mentors in the kitchen? Hey, Drake, don’t you forget to listen to the little guy in your gut.

Drake Says He Forgot He Was Injured

Posted on 15. Aug, 2009 by Danny M.

“What the footage doesn’t show is that I actually came out of the sky that night,” he told MTV News. “I was 20 feet in the air on a little platform. Philadelphia was the only sold-out show on the tour — 25,000 people. And before they see me, I see them for about five seconds. I was staring out into the crowd and I literally … when I landed on that platform, I blacked out and really forgot I was injured. I was just so full of adrenaline, so happy to be there, it kind of set in for me. I remember on the I Am Music tour, the reaction was great. But these were my songs. These are songs people know and love and we really made this happen in a short time. I was just enjoying myself. I had the mic and I was really going. And when ‘Best I Ever Had’ came on, I felt like dancing. It was a great moment. I wanted to run across stage, I wanted to jump into the crowd.”
