Drake Shelves R&B Mixtape For Take Care Album

Drake recently announced that he will be shelving his R&B mixtape titled It’s Never Enough, so that he can focus on working on his sophomore album titled Take Care.

I am truly enjoying my life right now. Its been so long since I have wrote anything on here because I feel like for a while I was trying to digest it all and save it for the music. But its finally set in that I am living my dreams and doing with all my closest friends from Toronto. I wake up and never know what to expect from any given day but good or bad I always learn something from it. I have decided that I am going to push “It’s Never Enough” and focus completely on delivering Take Care to you all. I feel like my mind is truly ready to make this next album NOW and I don’t want that feeling to escape me. My mother is doing well for all who have been asking. She went to her first swimming class the other day and won gold…not really but you know what I mean. OVO gang is all smiles and 40 is making some of the best music I have heard in my entire career. I am in the airport right now headed to LA to meet up with Boi-1da tonight. Its all feeling right. Its truly been a pleasure to speak again. Thank you for all your energy. Soon. Guidance.

Video: Drake Speaks On Taking A Break From Recording ‘It’s Never Enough’

“I been rapping a lot lately,” Drake told MTV News. “Me and 40 (Noah Shebib, his producer) have been doing some great rap music, so I sort of took a hiatus on the R&B for a second. It’s cool to do R&B, I love it, but it’s just hard for me to always commit to it. Because some nights, I get in there and 40’s beats, as melodic or R&B-driven as they may be, just have that right pocket that I just wanna spit.”

“I did this song the other night; I’ve now completed the second song for my album,” he revealed. “So I only had one song before for the new album; two nights ago, I did the second song. I’m loving it. I’m loving the sound. I’m excited again.” – MTV

Video: Drake Speaks On It’s Never Enough Mixtape, Demo Leaks & More

September 16, 2010 by Danny M

“I don’t know if it’ll be next month,” he told MTV News on Saturday during his VMA rehearsal. “I’m hoping for Christmastime. I’d really love to get it out for Christmastime. Next month, I’ll be on tour. I’m gonna really get to put the finishing touches on it in November and December. Because it’s a mixtape, I don’t have to wait for the production of it.”

“It’s feeling really good, man,” Drizzy said of the tape. “It’s a lot of great music that we all enjoy listening to as a team. Gearing up for my next album, preparing people. What I said on my next album is that I didn’t necessarily wanna have full R&B songs. I just wanna find a balance like I did on So Far Gone. I wanna have more songs on my next album. I wanna give people that music. I’m really excited about It’s Never Enough. I might pick a beautiful woman and shoot a video. I have some ideas.”

“It’s all new music,” he said of It’s Never Enough. “So all those are references. I had some references that were for Jamie Foxx, some that were for Rita Ora from Roc Nation. All the R&B stuff that recently leaked, that’s not for the tape.” – MTV
