Omarion Reacts To Being Replaced By Lloyd On Young Money Single

The former B2K member originally sang the hook on “Girl You Know,” later retitled “Bed Rock,” for December 15th’s Young Money compilation We Are Young Money. When asked what he thought of his replacement, “You” singer Lloyd, Omarion said, “That’s interesting. I heard it. It didn’t bother me.”

O was first contacted about remaining on the song or having someone else sing his hook. “I was contacted and they told me they wanted to potentially use my version of the song or have someone else sing it because I wrote the hook.”

In the end, his vocals and lyrics were swapped for Lloyd’s. “Lloyd did another hook. That’s what’s so interesting to me too,” he shared. “Technically people didn’t have to know that [I wrote the hook if Lloyd would've sang my version]. I didn’t go and tell nobody before the song came out.”

But Omarion still thinks he outshined his R&B counterpart. “Truthfully, I thought mine was better.”

Omarion Hopes To Work With Young Money Again

Although their relationship was short lived, Omarion is not ruling out the chance to work with his former Young Money labelmates again.

The R&B crooner’s new album, Ollusion, will not feature any songs with his ex-family members including Lil Wayne, but he is open to future collaborations. When asked whether their paths will cross once more, Omarion told Rap-Up.com, “Hopefully. I love to create music. That’s what I’m all about.”

In fact, he’s looking beyond hip-hop for potential collaborators. “What’s that character Jamie Foxx played? He played the violin. Nathaniel Ayers [in The Soloist]. I would do a song with him [laughs]. I just love creative people. I love the studio and I love having the vibe. It could be whoever.”

Omarion’s one-time boss, who was replaced by Gucci Mane on his new single “I Get It In,” is expected to be formally sentenced in February to one year in jail for attempted gun possession. O shared his thoughts on Wayne going behind bars. “I think that it’s unfortunate, but at the same time I really feel like he’s not gonna miss out on anything,” he said, while comparing Weezy’s situation to another popular incarcerated rapper. “T.I.’s about to be home and he didn’t miss nothing. Nothing happened while he was gone. I don’t think anybody wants to go to jail, that’s just not a place for people.”

We finally have the Young Money song called “Girl You Know” which was produced by Kane Beatz. I think this record will be on the compilation album, and they will be shooting a video hopefully this month. We have two versions of this record; one with Lil Wayne, Drake, Gudda Gudda, Nicki Minaj, Jae Millz, Tyga and Omarion which can be downloaded below:

Shanell Speaks On Omarion’s Departure

With the recent departure of Omarion from Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment, SOHH spoke with the label’s songbird Shanell who shared her reaction to the unexpected move.

In addition to speaking on the former B2K member’s exit, Shanell also expressed her excitement to have Bow Wow join Cash Money Records, which is Young Money‘s imprint.

“I don’t know, everything happens so quick,” Shanell said about Omarion’s departure. “Everything happens so quick but I’ve always been a fan of Omarion. So whether he’s with us or not with us, I hope the best for his career. I haven’t been able to work with him yet…[With Bow Wow,] that’s the homie. That’s the homie. We’ve worked together before. He’s actually with Cash Money. It’s a whole family but it’s two separate situations. It’s Cash Money and Young Money.”

Omarion Addresses Young Money Reports; Denies Leaking Lil Wayne Song

R&B singer Omarion has addressed reports of his being dropped from Lil Wayne’s Young Money imprint, just months after signing with the burgeoning label.

Reports hit the Internet hinting that Omarion was dropped from the label for leaking the song “I Get It In” featuring the singer and Lil Wayne.

“I have a lot of respect and admiration for the genius of Lil ‘Wayne and the entire Young Money family,” Omarion told AllHipHop.com in a statement.

Omarion shot down reports that he was dropped from the label and stated that he requested to be let out of his contract with Young Money.

“I asked to be released from the label to pursue other opportunities that were recently presented to me. Because of our relationship, Lil’ Wayne had no issue with us ending our business relationship and released me from the label,” Omarion stated. “Lil’ Wayne and I have nothing but love for each other, there is no Beef.”

Omarion also denied leaking “I Get It In” on the Internet, countering a statement released by Young Money artist Mack Maine, implying that Omarion himself was responsible for the song hitting the Internet without authorization.

“I also wanted to make it clear that my company nor did I, leak the song, “I Get It In” and I want to dispel any rumors that have surfaced. I appreciate my relationship with Young Money/ Cash Money and look forward to doing business in the future.”

In the coming weeks, Omarion will make a major announcement regarding his new career path, as well his upcoming album Ollusion.
