PJ Morton Signs To Young Money Entertainment

Young Money have added another artist to their roster, this time it’s New Orleans’ own PJ Morton! He is the son of Bishop Paul S. Morton and a member of the band Maroon 5. I don’t really know anything about this guy but I read that he is a songwriter, singer and producer. The announcement that PJ Morton signed to YMCMB came from his Twitter page, which Mack Maine also retweeted, and his band Maroon 5 congratulated him on their Twitter page too.

Drake Says “Over” Video Takes The Song To Another Place x Producer Speaks On “Shut It Down”

According to Drake, his video for “Over” should be out very soon and the clip shows a choice he had to make in real life.

“It captures … it takes the song to another place,” he told MTV News in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, during the opening night of his Away From Home Tour. “It offers up a whole different look for the song. The song — to a lot of people — is ignorant, it’s club. This video is what I was really thinking about. The song is like a bad dream — but it’s not a bad dream, it’s not a terrible dream. It’s a little evil. The video really reflects that. It’s a struggle between the purities of my past life and what this new life has to offer. Even in the video, you see me looking back and forth between the two and deciding. At the end of the video I don’t necessarily make a decision, but when you get the album, you’ll see what choice I make.”

Over” is early in the Thank Me Later track list, and is part of a story that’s told through the album.

“Initially it was a warm-up record,” he added of ‘Over‘. “I love the song. I love the message in the song. It’s funny, because ‘Over‘ is the fourth song on the album and it’s the turning point in the album. It’s like, you get three songs of me sort of trying to paint the picture of what the last year has been like for me — trying to fill you in, almost let you into my world as much as I can. ‘Over‘ is that moment where you’re almost worried on the album. ‘Is this kid about to … ? What’s happening? Is he changing?’ I wanted that to come out first. I wanted people to be a little nervous. This whole journey could have changed me drastically. Fortunately I’m able to step out of my shoes and reflect on it and give you some great music. ‘Over‘ is a great alter-ego moment. It’s the dark side of things and I really wanted that to come out first.”

Via MTV, and hit the jump to read what the producer of “Shut It Down“, Omen says about the song:

Drake Fires Back At Kia Shine

Drake has responded to Kia Shine‘s alleged “25 percent ownership” accusations regarding his hit “Best I Ever Had” record and said the claims made on the Southern artist’s behalf are completely fabricated.

Responding to the reports on his daily blog, Drizzy said he has never met Shine and does not share a quarter of his publishing with the producer.

“There have been questions posed to me the last few days about the writing of ‘Best I Ever Had’ and I figured I’d take the time to clear the air directly,” he wrote Thursday (September 17) night. “I have never met Kia Shine or worked with him. I wrote the entire composition in Toronto and I borrowed one line from a Lil Wayne song that he produced the BEAT for. The claims of 25% ownership are false and for a artist to brag about splits on a song is distasteful to begin with.”

Writing via Twitter, Shine initially posted images of himself being awarded with Billboard plaques in recognition of the song.

“maan i am not a hater, if someone is blessed with something i commed them and encourage, not discourage,” he wrote earlier this week. “for all the nob believers here is the pic taken from Sept.10th’s Bm1 awards in NY where I won 3 awards for my publishing share of ‘BEST I EVER HAD’…this message is for all the non-believers YES kia shine OWNS 25% OF THE DRAKE SONG ‘THE BEST I EVER HAD’ 3 BMI AWARDS FOR THE SONG GOING #1 ON 3 BILLBOARD CHARTS.
