Drake Starts His Own Label Called Octobers Very Own & Partners With Warner Bros

According to Billboard, Drake has signed a partnership deal with Warner Bros. Records for his own label that he has started up called October’s Very Own. Similar to how Rick Ross is signed as a solo artist to Def Jam and his artists on his Maybach Music Group label are signed to Warner Bros., Drizzy will still be signed as a solo artist to Universal through Young Money/Cash Money, but the artists he signs to his new label will go through Warner Bros.

Drake has already been building up his October’s Very Own brand by shouting out OVO on his songs, selling OVO merchandise, and hosting an annual OVO festival in his hometown Toronto.

Drizzy is also not the only artist from Young Money who has created a record label, as his label-mates Tyga started up Last Kings and Nicki Minaj started up Pink Friday Records.

Video: Drake Speaks On “Headlines” & Promises Lots Of Radio Records On Take Care

“I think it’s great; the purpose of that record was solely to deliver a message,” Drizzy told MTV News last month on the BMI Urban Awards red carpet. “I could’ve gone with the record that was sort of super radio-friendly, but I really just wanted to talk to the people with the first record.”

“It’ll let you know exactly what’s goin’ on in my life because unlike a lot of other artists, I don’t take to social media outlets to tell you what’s goin’ on in my life,” he replied. “I don’t sit there and complain about stuff all day long, I don’t lash out, I just sort of save it for the album, so I think if you want to know what’s going on with me at all, you’ll just listen to Take Care and it’ll answer all of your questions.”
