Queen Latifah Speaks On Nicki Minaj + So Far Gone EP Sells 72,104 1st Week

Even though there was only 7 songs on Drake‘s So Far Gone EP, he still managed to sell 72,104 units in the first week. Also, don’t forget that these songs (except for one) have been released for free earlier this year. Visit Hits Daily Double for the stats.

Check out Queen Latifah speaking on Nicki Minaj below:

One of the females that’s being hailed as the torchbearer for the next generation of hip-hop is Nicki Minaj, who’s making a huge splash in the rap world. What’s your opinion on her as an artist and what she’s doing with the genre?

I like everything I’ve heard from her so far. What I do like about her is number one, I got mad love for Lil Wayne. He’s bringing her up, he’s giving her an opportunity to come up through his camp. She’s showing and proving. Eve did the same thing. She spit with every dude in the Ruff Ryders camp, and that showed that she had the courage, gumption, talent and ability to be in this game. But then the records that she made were great records that talked about things that females wanted to talk about, and they were hit records. Her first album was platinum, so to me, when we do get on, we make a big splash because there aren’t that many of us. We stand out from the crowd. I’m hoping that there’s not just Nicki Minaj, but that there’s someone else out there, the next whoever, that’s waiting to have that same opportunity that she’s getting right now. But God bless her, I hope she blows up, because that’s what we need right now. We need that female energy in the game.

Birdman – Money To Blow (Feat Lil Wayne & Drake) + I’m Going In Music Video Coming

Birdman Money To Blow Feat Lil Wayne & Drake + I'm Going In Music Video Coming

This track just kinda came out of nowhere, so I have no idea if this is from Baby’s upcoming album or not. Anyways here is a record by Birdman called “Money To Blow” which features Lil Wayne and Drake. This is the full and finished version from a while back where Drake’s verse was leaked as a freestyle (and yes, Wayne rapped it at the MTV VMA’s). You can listen and download it below:

Download: Rapidshare | zShare

Also, just before Drake goes in for knee surgery, he will shoot a music video for his single “I’m Going In” featuring Lil Wayne, which will be on the re-release of So Far Gone.

Lil Wayne and Drizzy are set to shoot the music video this month in Buffalo, New York. They also have a concert nearby on August 27 in Darien Center, but I am not sure if Drake will be performing that night.

I am also not sure if Young Jeezy will be joining them in the video either, because on the re-release of Drake’s So Far Gone which is in stores September 15th the song only features Lil Wayne on the tracklist. This might mean Drake has added an extra verse to the track or the song is just cut shorter. You can see the covers of the upcoming re-release of So Far Gone here.

Drake Inks Personal Message To Fans

Drake Inks Personal Message To Fans

Drake has written a personal message to his fans based on the responsibilities, he feels, which come with being “famous” and he addressed the real reasons behind his upcoming So Far Gone re-release.

Reflecting on his career up until now, as a signed member of Lil Wayne’s Young Money record label, Drizzy envisioned what he hoped future icons would be able to embody.

“People often ask me the craziest part about becoming ‘famous’ and I’ve never had an answer until yesterday,” he wrote Thursday (August 20). “‘You’ll spend half of your time defending yourself and the other half trying to stay sane resulting in you being forced to find time to be creative.’ I often wonder in a time where new artists exist in a impersonal cyber world of instantaneous information, if we will ever have another rap legend that can manage to maintain the image that our idols had prior to this method of promotion. I am not suggesting that this person should be me, I am just urging a generation to understand that in order to have anyone of any significance in our lives that we can look up to there will be things that we must look past. There are people that buy sell and trade evil on a daily basis…when u believe in their brand is when they win…I also want people to know that I am only releasing this EP so that everyone involved in the project can hold a physical copy of the CD in their hands and see it in the store. And for anybody else who feels that So Far Gone marked a moment in time I just wanted to give you the option to have the disc. If you got it for free and want to keep it that way than by all means I urge you too. That was a gift from me to you…Thank Me Later.”

Drake Isn’t A Ladies Man + So Far Gone Covers & Tracklisting

Posted on 19. Aug, 2009 by Danny M.

“I think there’s two types of rapping about women,” he explained to MTV News. “There’s rapping about fairy-tale stuff … not to take away anything from an MC like this, but you take a rapper like Bow Wow, who is a genuine ladies’ man and all his songs are to make ladies love him and love themselves. And that’s cool. That’s a brand of music that might not always be what’s real, you may not always be telling the truth, but at least someone is gonna feel good about the songs you’re making. With me, when I touch on women — which I don’t feel like I rap about a lot — I feel like I’m just rapping about myself.” (MTV)

Hit the jump for the front and back cover including the tracklist for Drake‘s “So Far Gone” which he is releasing to retailers on September 15.
