Drake Views Is No 1 On Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart For 11 Non Consecutive Weeks

For the eleventh non-consecutive week, Drake‘s VIEWS album remains at No. 1 on Billboard’s “Top 200 Albums” chart after selling around 89,000 copies (including streams)!

The last project to spend 11 weeks in the top spot was Taylor Swift’s 1989 album last year. However, the last album that was No. 1 for more than 11 weeks was the Frozen soundtrack back in 2014 with 13 weeks, so do you think Drizzy can surpass that?

Drake Views Is Back No 1 On Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart For The Tenth Non Consecutive Week

Since being replaced at No. 1 last week by Blink-182 on Billboard‘s “Top 200 Albums” chart, Drake‘s VIEWS album is now back in the top spot this week after selling around 92,000 copies (plus streams).

This means VIEWS has been No. 1 for ten non-consecutive weeks and it is only the tenth album to do so in the last 20 years! Drizzy now has the most weeks at No. 1 with a solo project by a male music artist since Billy Ray Cyrus’ Some Gave All album did 17-weeks in the top spot back in 1992.

VIEWS is also the highest-selling album released in 2016 with around 1.34 million units sold so far. The 6 God‘s project is just behind Adele’s 25 album, which was released in 2015, to be the biggest-selling album this year as that has around 1.44 million units sold in 2016.

Drake Views Is No 1 On Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart For 9 Consecutive Weeks

Drake‘s VIEWS album is still currently No. 1 on Billboard‘s “Top 200 Albums” chart, which now makes it nine consecutive weeks that it has been in the top slot! In other words, since VIEWS dropped it has been No. 1 every single week!

According to Nielsen Music, Drizzy‘s latest album sold 111,000 units in the past week with streams and sales. VIEWS has now surpassed Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP (eight weeks) to claim the third-most weeks in the top spot by a hip-hop album.

The 2 albums above Drizzy Drake are Vanilla Ice’s To The Extreme album with 16 weeks at No. 1 and MC Hammer’s Please Hammer Don’t Hurt ‘Em album with 21 weeks at No. 1. Do you think the 6 God can surpass these projects with VIEWS?

DMX Recalls The Conversation Of Drake Asking Him To Sample What These Bitches Want On U With Me

DMX visited Power 105.1’s “The Breakfast Club” radio show in New York City at the end of June to chop it up with DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God for an interview.

During their conversation, X recalled having a conversation with Drake and Noah “40” Shebib over the phone about them wanting to sample his “What These Bitches Want” song on the “U With Me?” track off VIEWS.

Back in 2012, DMX mentioned in an interview that he was not a fan of Drizzy, but he has now changed the way he feels about the 6 God after this “humbling experience” of Drizzy Drake wanting to use one of his songs.

One Of The Producers Behind Drake U With Me Off VIEWS Speaks On The Song

One of the producers behind Drake‘s “U With Me?” song off his VIEWS album, DJ Dahi, spoke with Genius about how the track came together and how it was almost left off VIEWS.

Dahi explained that he sent the beat to Drizzy Drake‘s manager Oliver El-Khatib, who told the producer that Drizzy loved it and was going to use it. However, an unfinished version of the song leaked in the summer of 2014.

Things didn’t look good for the track then, but Noah “40” Shebib (who also has production credits on the song) called up DJ Dahi to ensure him that the finished version of “U With Me?” will still be appearing on VIEWS. You can read the interview after the jump below!
