Nicki Minaj Covers Complex Magazine

Nicki Minaj will be on the front cover of Complex Magazine‘s October/November 2010 issue, which will hit newsstands next month on October 5th. You can check out the cover above, and read the full interview below were Nicki speaks on her two singles, Diddy, Cassie, beef, Lil Wayne, Drake, removing “no homo” from her dictionary and plenty more:

Complex: Everyone has this image of you as a cartoon character with outlandish wigs, but at our shoot today you were much more low-key.

Nicki Minaj: [Laughs.] Every woman is a character—but people need to see I’m a regular human. It’s like you wear a pink wig and you’re no longer human all of sudden. You’re a thing. Like today [the photographer] was like, “Where is that Nicki Minaj smile?” But this shoot doesn’t call for the Nicki Minaj smile. You guys wanted me subdued, so I’m gonna give you a different side. I’m not gonna pull a string and be like, “It’s Barbie, bitch!”

Is it intimidating to know that, besides The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill, there are very few indisputable classic female rap albums?

Nicki Minaj: I want to do well, but I don’t think I’m intimidated. People’s expectations of what I’m capable of doing are very low. People have been used to hearing little one-liners and me play around.

Young Money At The MTV VMA’s 2010 [Video + Pics]

The MTV Video Music Awards aired on Sunday, 12th September, and most of the Young Money crew were there. No one from YM won an award, but Nicki Minaj and Drake did perform live at the show. Nicki Minaj Explains The Fatal Ending In Her “Your Love” Music Video

Nicki Minaj‘s “Your Love” video has been out for several days, so by now you should know that the lovely Young Money siren kicks the bucket at the end of the clip. During a sword fight with her female rival, Nicki‘s character, a martial arts student who’s in love with her sensei (played by Michael Jai White), comes out on the losing end when she catches some powder to the face and a sharp blade to the gut. Last week in Los Angeles, Nicki explained why she wanted to have a fatal attraction in the video.

“I just felt like that was the most emotional and truthful storyline,” Minaj explained. “I felt like mostly everyone would normally make themselves win in the end. I wanted show that the only way I could be beat is if you cheat. If you cheat! If you play fair and square, I’m gonna win. It’s my little way of looking at it. Also, I felt it was almost heart-wrenching to see it. I made myself this nice girl in the video and you bond with the character. You know what I mean. You see her die. I wanted people to talk about it in the end. ‘Why did she make that decision?’ I wanted them to cry.”

Nicki Minaj’s Official Release Date For Her Debut Album!

Nicki Minaj recently promised that her debut album would drop this year, and she now has an official release date! Nicki‘s album which is still untitled is set to be released on the 23rd November 2010. “Massive Attack” and “Your Love” are two singles from the album, and this is what the Barbie tweeted to her followers on Twitter: “Yes. It’s time. November 23rd”.

Lil Twist and Tyga are both set to drop albums this year too, so I wonder if any of them will release an album before Nicki.

Nicki Minaj Shoots A Music Video For “Your Love”

“I was not planning on putting the song out at all,” she told MTV News over the weekend on the “Your Love” video set. “But then I heard it one day, somebody told me it was online. And I was like, ‘No way, no way in the world that song is out.’ I went and listened to it and was really upset. It wasn’t mixed, it wasn’t finished, it wasn’t anything — I wasn’t gonna use it at all. But then radio started playing it.”

Soon enough, the record shot up to #1; the last woman to rule the rap charts was Missy Elliott with “Work It.”

“Isn’t that crazy?” Nicki said. “Crazy. I don’t even know how it feels to have a #1 hit right now. But it’s amazing.” – MTV

I think it’s crazy that a record Nicki Minaj wasn’t even going to put out has gone to #1 in the charts.
