Nicki Minaj Speaks On Her Upcoming Sitcom, Female Rappers, Working On New Music & More

Nicki Minaj recently called into Power 105.1 to chat with DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God on their “The Breakfast Club” radio show.

During their conversation, Nicki talked about meeting Lauryn Hill for the very first time at the weekend, her Marie Claire interview, twerking, her comedy TV show being postponed, blocking photographers from shooting her twerking on stage at the “TIDAL X: 1015” concert, female rappers, and more.

The Young Money Barbie also confirmed in the interview, which you can check out below, that she is currently in the studio working on new music, but wouldn’t reveal if she will be releasing a album or mixtape next!

Nicki Minaj Covers Billboard Magazine Issue 38, Talks Politics, A New Mixtape & More

The Young Money Barbie graces the front cover of Billboard magazine’s volume 127 issue 38, which is also their special No. 1’s 2015 year in music cover.

For her cover story, Nicki Minaj spoke on what validation means the most to her, if she considers herself a New York rapper, her upcoming sitcom on ABC Family about her childhood, acting, watching Investigation Discovery all day, “Empire”, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Donald Trump.

Nicki also discussed reciting the Maya Angelou poem “Still I Rise” at an event recently, getting advice from Jay Z and Beyonce about moving to Los Angeles and being in a high-profile celebrity relationship, if her and Meek Mill are engaged, why she will be releasing a new mixtape, and plenty more.

Drake To Produce Canadian Sitcom + The Search Feat Saukrates

We recently reported that Drake would be starring in his own sitcom here, but according to MTV, Drizzy will be producing the TV show:

Drake may be pretty serious when it comes to his music career, going as far as apologizing to fans after getting mixed reviews on his breakout video, “Best I Ever Had.” But the Young Money rapper is more likely to laugh about things when it comes to his acting career. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the former “Degrassi” star is attached to a sitcom in his native Toronto, titled “Us and Them.”

Contrary to reports, however, Drake won’t star in the comedy.

According to a representative for the MC, Drake will only assist in producing the show.

” ‘Us and Them’ is something he has been working on for some time with some of his actor friends,” the rep told MTV News late Thursday. “They will be continuing to develop the show, but Drake won’t be starring in it.”

Drake To Star As Funnyman In New Sitcom

Rap newcomer Drake will make his return to the small screen in a new upcoming series called “Us and Them“.

While details are still scarce, the show will reportedly be an “Odd Couple”-styled sitcom.

Also Wednesday, Toronto-based the Nightingale Company said Canadian actor and rap artist Aubrey “Drake” Graham (“Degrassi: The Next Generation”) is to develop a new comedy series for the indie producer. Graham, also known as the recording artist “Drake,” and fellow actor Mazin Eisadig (“The Line”) are to co-star in “Us and Them,” a sitcom about best buddies — and polar opposites ? trying to make their way in the entertainment industry.

Drake originally made a name for himself as a star on the kids-based show “Degrassi.”
